Gum Arabic is basically the hardened sap of the acacia trees (acacia Senegal and acacia Seyal). Most of the production is coming from the “gum Arabic belt”, a line through Africa from Sudan to Senegal. The gum has different properties which can be utilized in all kind of applications. It is a stabilizer, emulsifier, and thickening agent in food applications. In the paintings it is a binder. In the pharmaceutical industry it is used because of previous mentioned properties, but also as a carrier, protection layer and health benefits.
Due to its high soluble fiber content, acacia fiber from the gum Arabic is thought to help lower cholesterol levels, keep blood sugar in check, protect against diabetes, and aid in the treatment of digestive disorders such as irritable. Using daily gum Arabic helps to keep a healthy natural life.
